The Day of the Lord is considered the same thing as Judgment Day and the duration will be longer than 24 hours. It is a period in which the wrath of God will come upon the sinners of the world. The Bible describes it as a great and terrible day. During the day of the Lord it will be too late for sinners to repent. The coming day of the Lord is described as being close at hand and the nations will come together for battle. The sun, moon, and stars will be darkened and the Earth and the sky will shake. The Lord will come with His army and God's wrath will be poured out and that day will be great and dreadful. God will judge the nations and will put an end to sin. The wicked shall be destroyed during this period. But for God's people it shall be great and glorious. It is the day of Salvation for the followers of Christ who stand firm to the end. The day will also be one of deliverance and restoration, and Christ will remain in Heaven until this time as described in Acts 3:21.
